The Essentials
RoastCheck only collects data necessary for app functionality.
- Your account (email + password) & your coffee reviews
- Anonymous usage statistics (how often features are used)
- Advertising runs WITHOUT personalized tracking (unless you allow it)
- You can delete all data at any time (Settings → Delete Account)
- Servers located in the EU, data transmitted encrypted
Optional: On first launch, you'll be asked if you want to allow personalized advertising. The app works just as well without it - you'll see regular ads instead of personalized ones.
1. Who Are We?
RoastCheck is your coffee review app for iOS. We take privacy seriously and comply with GDPR.

2. What Data We Collect
Your Account
- Email address & password (encrypted)
- Your coffee reviews, notes & lists
- Taste preferences (e.g. preferred roast level)
Anonymous Statistics (NO Tracking)
We track how the app is used - but anonymously:
- Which features are used? (e.g. "Search used", "Review written")
- Technical info (iOS version, device model)
- How long is the app used?
This helps us improve the app. This data is collected by default, but you can disable it anytime: Settings → Privacy → Allow Analytics
Personalized Advertising (Only With Your Permission)
On first app launch, you'll be asked: "Allow tracking?"
- Yes: You'll see personalized ads (based on your interests across apps)
- No: You'll see regular ads - the app works exactly the same
You can change this anytime: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → RoastCheck
3. How We Use Your Data
To make the app work:
- Your account & login
- Storing your reviews & preferences
- Coffee recommendations based on your taste
- Synchronization across your devices
- Community features (public reviews & comments)
To improve the app:
- Anonymous statistics: Which features are used?
- Error analysis & performance optimization
- Developing new features
Advertising & Purchase Links:
- Ad displays in the app (with/without personalization - your choice)
- Affiliate links to coffee retailers (you're not tracked, only the click is counted)
4. Who We Share Your Data With
Google Firebase (Server Infrastructure)
The app runs on Google servers in the EU. Firebase handles:
- Storage of your account data & reviews
- Login & synchronization between devices
- Anonymous statistics (how often features are used)
Google processes this data in compliance with GDPR on our behalf. You can disable statistics anytime: Settings → Privacy → Allow Analytics
AI Chatbot (Google Gemini)
Our AI assistant helps you find the perfect coffee. Using it is optional!
When you use the chatbot, the following is transmitted to Google:
- Your chat messages
- Your taste preferences (so it can give good recommendations)
Google only uses this data to answer your request. Details: Google Privacy
Advertising (Google AdMob)
You decide: On first launch, you'll be asked: "Allow tracking?"
Decline tracking:
- Regular ads (not personalized)
- App works completely
- NO tracking across apps
Allow tracking:
- Personalized ads (based on your interests)
Change: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → RoastCheck
Coffee Retailers (Affiliate Links)
When you click a purchase link (e.g. to Roastmarket), the retailer only sees that someone came from RoastCheck - no personal data!
5. Where & How Long We Store Your Data
Storage location: Servers in the EU (Google Firebase)
How long?
- Your account & reviews: Until you delete them
- Anonymous statistics: Indefinitely (they're anonymous)
Security:
- Encrypted transmission (HTTPS)
- Encrypted passwords
- Regular security updates
6. Your Rights
You always have control over your data:
- Access: Ask us what data we have about you
- Correction: Have incorrect data corrected
- Deletion: Directly in the app → Settings → Delete Account
- Export: Request your data as a download
- Objection: Tell us if you disagree with something
